A programme presenting Chopin’s music as seen through the eyes of Johanna Kinkel (1810-1858), a remarkable poet, composer and revolutionary thinker, who wrote lectures about the emancipatory political power of Chopin’s music while an exile in London from the 1848 Revolutions. Several arrangements of her beautiful songs for solo piano and excerpts from her short stories, essays, and poetry will be woven around musical selections.
