Described by International Piano Magazine as the ‘one to watch’ and ‘with technical fluency and rich tonal shading reminiscent of the great Communist era artists such as Emil Gilels’, and ‘spell-binding’ by the Musical Opinion Magazine, Yulia Chaplina is the winner of 7 international piano competitions.
Since winning the First Prize & the Gold Medal in the prestigious Tchaikovsky International Competition for Young Musicians, Yulia performs 40+ concerts per year, including solo and chamber music concerts in renowned concert halls such as the Berliner Philharmonie and Berliner Konzerthaus, Schloss Glienicke; Wigmore Hall, Kings Place, Southbank Centre, St James Smith Square, St James Piccadiliy (UK), Grand & Small & Rachmaninov Halls of the Moscow Conservatory, St. Petersburg Philharmonie (Russia), Bunka-Kaikan Concert Hall, Minato Mirai Concert Hall, Hiroshima Philharmonie (Japan), Busan Philharmonie (South Korea), Casa Blanca Philharmonie (Morocco), etc. She performed at the BBC Proms and had numerous appearances on BBC Classical Music Radio 3, Radio Iom, Radio Orpheus.
Yulia appeared as a soloist in concerto performances with orchestras including the Hiroshima Symphony Orchestra, Busan Philharmonic Orchestra, Moroccan National Orchestra, Berlin Sinfonietta, State Symphony Orchestra of Russia “Evgeny Svetlanov”, Russian Symphony Orchestra, Isle of Man Symphony Orchestra and Basingstoke Symphony Orchestra.
Yulia’s solo CD, recorded by Champs Hill Records, was described by the American Record Guide as “….an outstanding disc and one I’ll return to often”, adding that “Yulia Chaplina brings to her playing more than a lifetime of acquaintance with this music.”
