Ekaterina Derzhavina – c.1886-87 Jakob Becker grand piano
Haydn’s Variations in F minor are considered one of his most dramatic works, likely influenced by the death of his close friend Mozart. The programme also features Tchaikovsky’s piano cycle The Seasons, comprising twelve pieces representing each month, performed on the c.1886-87 Jakob Becker grand piano, a type of instrument Tchaikovsky greatly admired and owned himself.
