Emma Kirkby – soprano, Steven Devine – harpsichord
A programme of music by Bach, Handel and Maurice Greene
Emma Kirkby makes a very welcome return, saying: “I look forward to coming to Hatchlands again, this time with the wonderful Steven Devine. Our programme will show off the harpsichord built in London (1746), by Ferdinand Weber, newly arrived from Germany; a perfect instrument for both songs and solos, it allows us to choose favourite pieces by London residents including Handel and Maurice Greene, but also by Bach and his contemporaries.”
