John Blow – Venus and Adonis

27 October 2016
7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Guildhall Cantata EnsembleGuildhall Cantata Ensemble
Directed by James Johnstone

Guildhall Cantata Ensemble return to Hatchlands by popular demand to present the last masque to be composed for the Stuart Court. Blow’s perennial masterpiece, based on the Classical myth of Venus and Adonis, is by turns witty and moving and was without doubt an inspiration for Purcell’s Dido & Aeneas.

Venus and Adonis will be complimented in the first half by Purcell settings of Shakespeare.
