Alec Cobbe – Titian at Hatchlands

3 July 2019
11:00 am - 12:30 pm

Titian at Hatchlands

Alec Cobbe will give a tour of the Cobbe Collection of paintings (not instruments), focusing on the great Renaissance master Titian, the inventor of the loose brushstroke and famed for his intense colouring, whose masterpiece Venus and Adonis is one of the stars of the Hatchlands collection. Mr Cobbe will discuss the picture’s fascinating genesis and its remarkable provenance – it counts King Charles I among its former owners.
Coffee and biscuits, served in the Dining Room on arrival, are included in the ticket price.
