CRAMER’S GRAND PIANO

Cramer's grand piano by John Broadwood and Sons

Overview

This instrument is virtually identical to that chosen by Thomas Broadwood (younger son of John Broadwood) as a gift for Beethoven in 1817. Signed by the composer and virtuoso John Baptist Cramer, who used it firstly in two performances in London with the violinist Francesco Vaccari, and later in Florence, where he passed it to the Marquis of Douglas.
